Strengthening Civil Society in Libya

Strengthening Civil Society in Libya

Following the collapse of the Gadhafi regime, in which participation in civil society was punishable by death, Crown Agents is working with the European Network of Implementing Development Agencies (EUNIDA) to encourage and enable Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to participate in their country’s governance. As lead agency of EUNIDA’s EC-funded ‘Support for Civil Society in Libya’ project, we have supported legislative change to build the capacity of civil society organisations and strengthen dialogue with the new Libyan authorities. Within the space of just a couple of years, we’ve moved to a stage where we are helping the government to better engage with and encourage the growth of civil society. Click title for full story.
